Over 450 years of history Barra de Navidad - entrance to lagoon
When we began this trip, we didn’t actually think of it as a
vacation; rather a water-based continuation of our lifestyle of discoveries and
adventures.Measured by any ‘normal’
means, living on a boat in Mexico is a nice holiday. This makes for a conundrum when you leave the
boat for a small vacation, from your vacation…

We feel the anchorage in the Barra de Navidad lagoon is safe
so we decide to leave Déjàlà by herself to visit inland for a couple of
days.We kept an eye out for someone
else’s vessel while they were out; they do the same for us when we leave.
Since we have been in Barra de Navidad, TV crews have been
filming an upcoming reality show called “Redneck Island”.Someone by the name of Steve Austin is associated with it (ex wrestler we’ve heard).First off, this is not an island…But reality TV is make-belief at
its best! Isn’t it so?
I travel a lot; I hate having my life disrupted by routine.

Most times, when you read well intended warnings about the
dos and don’ts of eating and/or drinking in Mexico, you often see the
following: “Beware of the ice in your
drinks, it may not be made of potable water and you will get sick.”
