When we began this trip, we didn’t actually think of it as a vacation; rather a water-based continuation of our lifestyle of discoveries and adventures.  Measured by any ‘normal’ means, living on a boat in Mexico is a nice holiday.  This makes for a conundrum when you leave the boat for a small vacation, from your vacation…

We feel the anchorage in the Barra de Navidad lagoon is safe so we decide to leave Déjàlà by herself to visit inland for a couple of days.  We kept an eye out for someone else’s vessel while they were out; they do the same for us when we leave.

Since we have been in Barra de Navidad, TV crews have been filming an upcoming reality show called “Redneck Island”.  Someone by the name of Steve Austin is associated with it (ex wrestler we’ve heard).  First off, this is not an island…  But reality TV is make-belief at its best! Isn’t it so?

Most times, when you read well intended warnings about the dos and don’ts of eating and/or drinking in Mexico, you often see the following: “Beware of the ice in your drinks, it may not be made of potable water and you will get sick.”
