Bahia La Mona – Monkey Bay, Towering Cardons, Life Filled Lagoons

Some people may decide to hate you for no reason,
Simply because your confidence reminds them of their insecurities.

Cardons 30' up against blue sky
We are in a general area where we are supposed to run into whale-sharks (named this way for their size - up to 45 feet in length - and for the fact that they only eat plankton, and other small items, not humans!) but we haven't had the chance to see one yet.

Ensanada El Quemado - 'The Tides, They Are a Changing'

I have never heard of anyone ever stumbling
On something sitting down.

All you need is a cold drink and....
Another beautiful anchorage to ourselves but the first with absolutely NO LIGHT nearby, nor even in the distance. We finally feel far away from civilization. All other anchorages either had lights across the way or other boats anchored nearby with their lights on.

Bahia San Francisquito, A Bay Within a Bay

I have not failed.
I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Small lighthouse at entrance of bay within a bay - Cala San Francisquito...
Quiet large bay with good protection from most winds but very little in terms of scenery. Here we meet two other people on sailboats who possibly sail as much as we do for their engines do not work properly, and they do not have the funds to use a lot of fossil fuel.

Normally considered a very small anchorage for only one vessel, we managed to comfortably squeeze next to another smallish vessel already anchored there. This area is beautiful with an intricately carved sea cave, a tiny arch on a detached rock protecting the cove, and great hikes in the tall mountains nearby.

Santa Rosalia – Fighting a Strong River-Like Current

Try not to become a person of success,
But rather try to become a person of value.
Albert Einstein

Old fishing boat sunk inside the harbor
Our sailing guidebooks for this area had warned us that Craig's Channel, 10 or so nautical miles south of Santa Rosalia, had strong currents and best be avoided in light wind conditions or for people like us without diesel engines to power through if necessary. We therefore safely sailed outside Island San Marcos on our way up. It took a little longer but we didn't have to fight that 'unseen/unknown' force of nature.
